Time Passed

Time Passed
An Analogy

I once was a pure, refreshing, cool, clear river. I was living waters of sustenance and beauty. I danced over rocks and splashed about as the Finned-Ones played in my fluidity. Four-Leggeds frolicked at my shores and thirsted not. Plants thrived, blossoming and filling the air with delightful fragrances. The wind carried the joyous songs of the exotic Winged-Ones. Two-Leggeds came and played at my shores, grateful for all they saw and heard and felt. They were cleansed, refreshed, renewed. They delighted in my glory and partook no more than needed and were thankful. They stood reverent beneath the twinkling night sky under the lunar phases and neath the radiant sun. Time passed…..
I was a stagnant river, wrought with poison waste, brimming with the fears and anger of the Two-Leggeds. The Four-Leggeds, Finned-Ones and Winged-Ones became sick. The toxicity festered and bubbled over the shores and spread across the Earth neath those still twinkling night skies and radiant days. The odor noxious and suffocating. The Two-Leggeds heaped their waste and darkened hearts upon already stagnant waters. Time is passing…..
I can once again dance, play, refresh and renew, mind, body, and spirit. May the sun shine brightly within your hearts and the stars dance within your eyes, love and light flowing from within into the river and spreading across the Earth. May the winds whisper hope in your ears as the Windged-Ones lighten your heart with their song. May you see possibilities within the lessons of the Four-Leggeds and Finned-Ones as they teach and guide us and we find and give healing. Breathe deeply from the wellsprings of love and light residing still within our inner visions and dreams. There is life in the waters, the air, the earth, within fire and spirit. Be not stagnant and closed off. Learn, transform, and you create living waters.

Aspects of The Goddess Within

The Goddess Trine
Oh how my beloved doth radiantly shine
In all aspects of the feminine Divine
I see her dancing in the twilight
The Maiden, innocent, shines still so bright
The Mother, compassionate holds me close
The Crone, her wisdom, touches my spirit most.
I bring to her daisies, touched by dew
I hold her close, our love so true
I look into her wizened eyes
Her amazing spirit within each guise.
I’ve known her in so many ways
Lifetimes past, and yesterdays
My sister, child, lover, friend
As we circle round again.
As our hearts beneath the twilight twine
And our lives touched by love light shine.
May tomorrows shaped by yesterday
Bring us closer by night and day.

Father Divine

Father Divine
Within your light
I stand protected
Certain in your knowledge
Your love
Your strength
My Divine Father
Mighty King, Hunter,
My heart’s fire
On my holy quest
I stand certain and true
Harvesting, gleaning
Becoming more like you.
In awe I stand
Neath your golden rays
I come in love
My King of Light
Upon the path
Tis you I seek
That we shall together stand
As She doth sleep.

Landscape in Metallics

I did a three section painting in the metallic paint, an abstract piece. I did this one for a friend. I liked it so much I added the landscape to the sectional painting.

Journey of the Butterfly Moon

Journey Of The Butterfly Moon

You are hiking down the forest path, stopping occasionally to admire
the thickets of ferns, unusual rock faces, and the beautiful array of
flowers. You see butterflies frolicking in the air, resting
occasionally on a flower to get a drink of nectar. Birds dance in the
sky singing happy songs above you. The rushing of water from a nearby
stream playfully calls you to take a break and cool off its inviting
waters. You come across a narrow break in the path that leads down to
a large pool of water fed by gentle cascading falls along the stream.
Reaching the waters edge you are pleased to discover to the left of
the pond is a graceful waterfall that showers into the pond rippling
its sky mirrored surface. You decide to stop and refresh yourself in
the cool clear pond. You undress and poke a toe in to test the waters
and find it quite comfortable. Carefully wading in as you are not sure
of the depth, you find the bottom gently slopes until you are chest
deep and then drops off to a depth of about 20 feet. Diving in deeply
you enjoy your time in the clear waters playing and splashing as
dragonflies skim over the surface and frogs lay in wait on lily pads.
You flip over on your back to float feeling completely relaxed and
refreshed. Moving closer to the cascading waters of the fall you
notice that there appears to be an opening behind the sheeting water.
You decide to get dressed and investigate what appears to be the
opening of a cave behind the above waterfall.

You carefully climb the narrow path leading up to the lip of the
waterfall. You are thrilled to find a small empty cave. The opening is
not much larger than a door and is camouflaged by trailing vines and
large boulders. Realizing it is a perfect place to cocoon you from the
elements, you decide to set up camp there and make your way back down
to gather your things. Others have been here before and you discover a
pile of wood to start a small fire with and you begin making your camp
fire in a stone enclosed circle near the cave entrance so that the
smoke will not engulf the cave and also to keep unwanted creatures
from making a surprise entrance during the night. After eating a light
dinner of fresh fruit, vegetables, bread, and cheese, you decide to
create a circle and meditate upon the beauty and blessings of the day.

You lay out a circle just outside the cave entrance but directly
behind the falling water so that you can see the Moon and stars make
their grand entrance into the evening sky. Sitting inside your small
circle, created with small stones, feathers, and other trinkets you
found along the path, your mind starts to drift. In your minds eye,
you see your journey of the day, the tall pines, the ferns, flowers…
You hear the birds, smell the richness of the soil…. You feel relaxed.
As you once again embrace the beauty and joy of the day you begin to
journey back to coolness of the pond and the waterfall. Your mind
takes a new direction and you see yourself standing at the edge of the
waterfall. As you look down over the moonlit water below you see that
you are no longer clothed in your shorts and t-shirt, but are now
dressed in a sheer flowing gossamer robe cut down the front to the
navel, the soft folds delicately covering your nakedness. There is a
silver link belt embedded with rainbow crystals and moonstones loosely
curving about your hips and trailing down the front to your ankles. On
your brow set's a silver tiara with the three phases of the moon at
center and encrusted with tiny moonstones and crystals. Your arms are
bare except for silver wrist cuffs engraved with runes. About your
neck, a silver chain, resting comfortably between your breast is a
pendant of the goddess within the phases of the moon. You see yourself
inside the fullness of the moon reflected in the waters below. You
embrace your reflection that of the Triune Goddess and the knowledge
that the you, as well as the phases of the moon and the Goddess
herself transition through aspects of growth, reflection, strength,
and understanding. Each aspect is part of our journey to be whom we
are yet to be. Each aspect teaches us, shape us and guides us. You
feel loved, and capable of loving. You feel open, refreshed, and
centered. As you embrace this feeling and knowledge, a ripple gently
moves across the surface of the water caused by a butterfly resting on
the surface to drink. You know that all that you do creates a ripple
in the very fabric of the Universe. All that you do, say, and think,
can bring about chaos, or beauty. You feel secure in the love you have
found and as you reflect on what you have learned, you lean forward
and dive from the lip of the falls into the pond below purposefully
creating a wave. This wave gradually becomes but a ripple, but this
ripple is of love, and understanding.

As you come to the surface, you find yourself sitting safely inside
your circle inside the cave. It is now dawn. You are refreshed and
relaxed. You sit back and watch the sun make its way into its day
home. After eating a light meal you gather your things, and extinguish
the fire. As you make your way down from the waterfall, down to the
edge of the pond, and back to the path that leads home, you glance
back and see the a butterfly drying its glorious new wings in the sun
on a flower at the edge of the pond and know that you too have been
transformed are ready to try out your new wings.

Sacred Wheel of Life

The Sacred Wheel of Life

You are on a well worn path in a forest of large majestic redwoods.
The moonlight glimmers on the moist fronds of the dense ferns that
border the trees. You can smell the damp moist soil and decaying
leaves under your feet. The moon and stars blanket the evening sky
above. You are dressed in a white velveteen cloak that shimmers in the
moonlight. It is early spring and the air is slightly cool still but
you are comfortable in just your cloak.

In the distance you here the beating of drums and barely audible
chanting in a language you are not familiar with. There is a slight
hint of sage and cedar wafting in the gentle breeze. As you near the
edge of the thicket you see the warm glow of a bonfire. The sacred
scents are stronger and the drumming and chanting louder. As you step
from the trees you see that there are 5 figures dancing around a
bonfire in a small clearing in the midst of the forest. They suddenly
stop dancing and drumming and look in your direction. As they again
begin their drumming you see yet another figure coming towards you.
She is dressed in a white buckskin dress and moccasin boots. The beads
and feathers on the fringe of her dress dance in the gentle breeze.
Her black hair hangs long and loose about her waist. Not saying a
word, she holds out her hand and you take it. As you near the fire,
you see that the five figures dancing about the fire are men dressed
also in buckskins. Four of the men have painted faces, one in yellow,
one in red, one in black, and one in white. The fifth man's face has
symbols in all four colors on his face. The young woman brings you to
the edge of the circle where the men have stopped dancing, but the
chanting continues. She picks up a smudge stick of cedar and sage and
begins to smudge you with using a feather to push the smoke. She then
paints your face with yellow, red, black and white. As she turns to
go, the man with the yellow painted face steps forward and asks you to
sit next to him at the East of the circle.

He picks up a beautifully carved pipe and loads it with tobacco. There
are many animals carved into the pipestone bowl. The begin by offering
the smoke from the pipe to the five directions, as well as above and
below. As the pass the pipe amongst themselves it in turn comes to you
and you take your turn also. They begin chanting again, but softly. As
the sage and cedar fill your nostrils, the chanting and drumming fill
your head and heart and a vision comes to you.

An eagle appears before you where the fire had moments ago been. You
hear the eagle speaking inside your head, "From the East, we begin to
seek knowledge, the direction where everything is fresh and new. To
greet the sun and appreciate the potential for new learning
experiences. The new day that enables us to see the miracles and
harmony of the Creators creations. Take this wisdom and keep it in
your heart."

You find that you are now seated at the South of the circle next to
the man with his face painted red. A mouse appears where the eagle had
just been. You hear mouse speaking inside your head. "From the south
we experience growth, the direction where everything in life is
replenished and in full bloom. To taste the ripe fruit of appreciation
and not take what we have for granted. Take this wisdom and keep it in
your heart."

Again, moved in the circle, but this time you are seated in the West
next to the man with his face painted black. A grizzly bear stands
before you now, you hear her words inside your head. " From the west
we encounter reflection and spiritual insight, the direction where
dreams and visions allow you to go within and appreciate yourself and
your Creator. Take this wisdom and keep it in your heart."

As you are now seated next to the man with the painted face of white
at the North of the circle, a buffalo appears before you. Again you
hear the words of the animal spirit before you as you. " From the
North we experience purity, the direction where the secret to many
cures are found for healing. Like the white snow that resembles the
white hair of our elders we honor wisdom. Take this wisdom and keep it
in your heart."
Now you are standing in front of the man with the symbols in the four
colors of the directions. He points to the circle and you suddenly are
aware that this is not a circle but a Medicine Wheel, each man
signifying a sacred direction, the fire representing the center, Great
Mystery, Spirit. He is still speaking in his own tongue but we are
able to understand each word. "Each of us is deeply connected to
everything that exists and therefore we are a critical part of the
sacred medicine wheel. Because of this interconnectedness, what we do
to other life forms, we are doing to ourselves. This is the Law of
One. The wheel can give us visions for our life. True visions benefit
all our relations on Mother Earth, not just human relations, but all
the beings in all the kingdoms. Take this wisdom and share it from
your heart."

He turns back to the wheel, the others once again stand and begin
dancing and chanting. The young lady that accompanied you here appears
and again takes your hand. As you reach the beginning of the path home
at the entrance of the forest she presses into your hand a small
doeskin pouch and turns to go. As you step onto the path, you glance
back and see not but redwood trees and ferns behind you. Turning back
to begin your journey home you discover that you are back in your own
yard, the sun beginning its slow ascent. You sit down to look at the
pouch in your hand and discover that it has a beaded design of the
Medicine Wheel with two small feathers dangling decorating the
outside. At each compass point are the sacred animals representing the
four directions. You open the pouch and find that it is quite empty.
You realize that it in fact it is a symbol of life. It is up to you to
fill it with love, light, and beauty. As with life, what you put into
it you will also receive. We as the pouch, have marks on the outside
but it is what is inside that counts. Begin now to fill the pouch. You
are ready to embrace each day with love and trust and begin now by
greeting today with a prayer of thanks as you sit and watch the day
begin.

For The Children

The past stands now before me
Within a babies eyes
Breathing down it's horrors
A small part within me dies
I light a healing candle
And send out love and prayer
That body, mind, and spirit
May know complete repair
As others add their candles
As others face their past
May our light grow in energy
Lighting shadows cast.
Releasing fear, pain, sorrow
Diminishing the hold
Enabling the victims
To stand up proud and bold
So light now another candle
And send out love and prayer
That all the world receive healing
And all know complete repair.

Spirit Lake

Spirit Lake
A Meditation by Lady Kiya

You are in the safety of your own yard laying in your hammock under
the trees. You gently swing to and fro while dangling your left leg
over the side, your toes just brush the tips of the grass beneath you.
On a nearby flat topped rock sage, sweet grass, and lavender smolder
in an abalone shell, next to a crystal cluster. Dressed in your
favorite, well worn cutoff shorts and a baggy t-shirt, you have an old
throw pillow to support your head and neck as you watch the morning
sun play hide and seek with the clouds. Squirrels flick their tails
nervously, barking their annoyance from neighboring trees. A chipmunk
peeks from its burrow waiting to see if it's safe for him to come out.
Morning doves pick at the seeds on the ground that the cardinals,
wrens, and an occasional titmouse have scattered about under the
feeders. Glistening dewdrops fall about you as a gentle breeze causes
the leaves above to dance and flutter. The fragrances of azalea,
wisteria, gardenia and magnolia perfume the air. Absorbing the comfort
and beauty, the sights and sounds, you close your eyes and relax. Your
minds begins to drift.

You are laying under a willow tree on a grassy embankment at the edge
of a vast lake. Beside you, on a large flat rock are the crystal
cluster and the shell containing smoldering embers of sage, sweet
grass, and lavender. Looking about, you see woods encompass both sides
of the lake and that a path enters the dense forest behind you.
Standing, you notice that you are dressed in a hooded robe of rich
green velvet. About your waist, the knotted ends dangling below the
knee is braided belt of green, brown, and white cording. You walk down
to the waters edge and see that it is clear and though shallow at the
bank, appears deep at the center. You remove your robe and wade into
the cool, calm water. You feel refreshed, clear, and alive. After a
brief swim, you climb back on the bank and sit cross-legged on the
grass enjoying the warm rays of the sun on your cool damp skin. You
gather your robe back about you when you hear a rustling in the bushes
upstream, you look up to see an animal making its way towards the
water. There are some trees and bushes between you so you can't quite
make out what it is. You sit very still so as not to disturb or
frighten it as it has not seen you yet.

Suddenly, it is standing directly in front of you. Before you can
react, you hear a voice in your head telling you that you are safe.
You realize that this is no ordinary animal, it is a spirit guide.

Take some time to get to know this power animal. Ask if this is your
guardian or if they are there to teach you a lesson. Ask if they will
become your guide and protector in rituals. Ask what you will, but be
respectful, and listen closely. When you are done, give thanks.

As suddenly as it appeared, it is gone. You feel connected and secure
in the knowledge that the animal kingdom has seen your heart.
Standing, you walk back to the willow tree and the rock where your
crystal and smudge lay. Leaning against the trunk of the willow tree,
you sit before the makeshift altar contemplating what you have seen
and heard this day. As you wait for the smudge to burn out completely,
once again your mind begins to drift.

Hearing the soft cooing of doves, you open your eyes to find that you
are in the safety of your own yard once again, gently swaying to and
fro in the hammock. The rays of the sun peek at you through the
branches of the shade tree. The clouds are gone and the sky is clear
and bright. Stretching, you swing your legs off the side of the
hammock and slowly stand. Raising your arms above your head, you give
thanks to the Lady and Lord and again to your spirit animal.

I strongly urge you to write down your experience while it is fresh in
your memory. Write down every detail you can. Now you can research
your spirit animal being sure to include predators, prey, environment,
and look into as many cultures associations as you can. You may see
something you missed. How can you apply these attributes to your life?
What do I have in common with this animal? How does this animal
overcome its obstacles? What senses does it rely on? What are it's
weaknesses and strengths? Even the gender and color will have special
attributes.

I would love to hear your experiences.

Love and Light,
Lady Kiya

Guidance

Guidance
I am an old spirit,
I have waged war and lost many battles,
I have shifted design and intent through cultures and environment.
What has called me out before, beckons yet again.
I am broken through idealistic restraint.
Resurrect me Native America, the drum and the flute fan my flame.
Glimpses of Celtic Borders bar my way.
The first life giving and purposeful,
The other wafts sporadically, a storm front.
Ancestral traits, not visible,
Treasure troves of desire smitten with confusion,
Promises of completeness scattering like ashes where they may be lost forever.
No, hope still lingers on spirit wings.
Carry them above to Great Mystery.
All medicines gather to mend this tired shattered spirit.
No more senseless battles,
Healing is my friend and sight my glory,
A blessed gift for the great of all seekers.
I'm hearing, I'm seeing, I'm reaching.
I am an old spirit but my work is not done.

I wrote this many years ago, right about the time I made the decision to begin my journey, to find my path.

Within

Within

I am love and light

Gone are fear and pain

Replaced by compassion.

I am now

Neither past nor future

I have understanding.

I am able

No longer constrained

I have opportunity.

I am complete

No longer scattered shards

But a new creation.

All that I dreamt of

All that is necessary

Has always been within

You are love and light,

Release fear and pain

Discover compassion

You are now

Neither past nor future

Seek understanding

You are able

Break free

Discover opportunity

You are complete

Not scattered shards

The perfect self

Stop dreaming

All you need

Is within.

Yemaya's Release

Yemaya's Release

You are walking alone along a secluded stretch of beach. Waves
rhythmically caress the white sand, removing all traces of previous
visitors and leaving ocean treasures in its wake. Sand dollars and
shells dot the beach along with an occasional piece of driftwood.
Sandpipers fun along the waters edge looking for food and crabs
scramble for cover. Delicate tendrils of hair tickle your cheeks in
the gentle breeze. Barefoot, and dressed in a sheer gossamer sarong
wrapped and tied about your neck, you stop to watch the sun and moon
embrace each other as day and night meet amidst a veil of twinkling
stars.

You have come here in hopes of freeing yourself from the burdens that
enslave your very thoughts, brought on by hard times and the
negativity that tried to engulf your daily life. Unfortunately, even
surrounded by beauty, our troubles do not leave us and you find that
tears stream familiarly down your face, falling into the salty water
that laps at your feet.

Suddenly, there appears before you a beautiful women, radiant light
surrounds her graceful and lithe, ebony form. She has a necklace of
pearls, crystals, and cowrie shells about her neck and shells decorate
her hair which barely covers her ample bosom. She tells you, "Do not
be afraid, you are safe." Yemaya, the Goddess of the Sea knows the
painful secrets that you carry in your heart and looks at you with
love and compassion. She stretches her graceful hand toward you and as
you grasp it all the emotions you have kept locked within surge. She
places her other hand on your heart and releases you from the old
beliefs, thoughts, and feelings that have kept you enslaved. You hear
her words in your head. "The tears of sorrow and joy flow from the
same tide. Water has the power to smooth the sharpest stone, flood the
driest plain." Gently she pulls you into the water with Her. The waves
break against your bodies sending the salty sea spray raining all
about as you wade deeper and deeper. The cool blue water is clear and
you see the occasional fish darting about the ocean floor. In the
distance dolphins leap playfully in and out of the breaking waves. You
dive into the cresting waves and delight in the refreshing water.
Diving deep you see delicate living reefs of pink coral, brightly
colored fish, and anemones live and feed there. Yemaya swims with you,
showing you the rapturous beauty of Her world. You find that you are
able to breathe under water, and swim easily amongst the sea creatures
and reef. Feeling truly alive and free, you take time to explore and
even swim amongst the dolphins, seahorses, and manta rays.

Too soon, it is time to return to the shore. Yemaya again takes you
hand and in an instant you find yourself on the beach. She reminds you
that you do deserve to be happy. You know that if ever you again have
need, the healing waters of this most beloved Goddess can take you to
the Sun and Moon drenched shores of forever becoming free. Again she
touches your heart and smiling with love and compassion turns back to
the sea and dives in becoming one with the sea. As you turn to leave,
you find before you a cowrie shell, and bend to pick it up. This
treasure from the sea is a gift from Yemaya as it is one of her
symbols. Feeling loved, blessed and cleansed, you are ready to face
tomorrow with hope, faith, joy, and trust.

Seascape Painting w/Graphic

Another of my paintings. I added a graphic, the woman, and made a tag for a dear friend. I recently gave the painting itself to my chiropractor. He and his wife loved it.

Painting/Graphic Abstract Angel

This is one of my first paintings. An abstract that was in my head and would not leave me alone until I painted it. I sent a picture of it to a friend whom added the graphic angel.

Spirit Clouds

Spirit Clouds
As I searched the morning sky
Watching as the clouds moved slowly by,
Faces formed before my eyes,
Confused spirits wafting by.
Pain and sorrow their expressions read,
So solemnly I bowed my head.
Silently, this prayer I said
Asking that to the light they be led.
Grant them rest and grant them peace
May their tormented spirits be released.
Great Lady may they reside now in your arms
Safe from sorrow, fear, and harm,
Knowing not but love and light.
Be joyous now, take wing, take flight.
As the tears form in my eyes,
I lift my arms up to the sky.
As the spirit clouds move slowly by,
I search their wizened spirit eyes.
Know in our hearts you'll e'er be.
Great Lady grant them joy and harmony,
Show them your amazing grace.
Rise up winds now, make haste.
Lead them to their final resting place.
I raise my eyes to the morning sky,
Watching as the clouds move slowly by,
Pierced by the sunshine’s brilliant rays.
It's going to be a beautiful day.

Through The Mist

Through The Mist

You are out hiking on an old worn dusty trail. The sun has begun its
decent into the evening time and glows orangey, yellow, and crimson on
the horizon. You are dressed in hiking boots, a light cotton t-shirt
and khaki shorts. Your canteen and backpack are thrown over your right
shoulder. Up ahead there is a small clearing, just right for camping.
You stop and set up your tent near the shelter of some trees and
gather some wood for a small fire. After eating a light meal you sit
back and relax.

The sun has retired for the evening but it is still hot and muggy on
this summer night. Your clothes cling to your damp body. The moon and
stars play hide and seek amongst the brewing storm clouds. As the
winds pick up you can literally smell the moisture in the air. It
won't be long before the rain comes. You sit watching the night sky
enjoying the cooling winds. Frogs croak in the distance and the
cicadas and crickets sing along.

The rain arrives, steady but gentle at first and it is so inviting
that you dance amongst the cool, refreshing droplets. As it begins to
rain harder you seek the shelter of your tent. You towel off and
change into some clean dry clothes and settle in until the rain ends.
Before long, the heavy rains change to a gentle sprinkle causing you
to feel drowsy.

Waking, you step from your tent to find you are surrounded by mist. It
rises steadily from the ground about you enveloping you in its white
veil. It has cooled considerably and the dampness makes you shiver so
you grab your cloak and throwing it over your back and shoulders wrap
it about out your body. Above you, the stars twinkle and the moon
shines radiantly. Cautiously you make your way to were the fire was
with fresh dry pine boughs and relight it. The fire pops, cracks and
sparks back to life.

In the distance you hear beautiful, melodious singing. Grabbing a limb
from the fire to use as a torch to see by you begin walking towards
the mesmerizing sound. There is a narrow, barely visible trail with
thick undergrowth under the dense thicket of trees. There is light in
the distance where the singing is coming from. Carefully, and quietly,
you make your way up the path. The mist slowly begins to dissipate.
Suddenly, as you step from the woods you find yourself in a large
clearing. Violets and marigolds dot the landscape covered in clover,
while honeysuckle and lavender perfume the air. The Full Moons shine
luminous and bright. Strange but beautiful beings with delicate, elfin
features are singing, giggling and dancing about it. You realize you
are in a Faery Ring. Woodland spirits dressed in cloaks of forest
green, hooded capes of amber, dance arm in arm, circling about,
laughing. Some of them have iridescent wings in soft shades of blue,
green, yellow. Your heart skips with joy at the magick and beauty that
surrounds you.

A violet eyed, flaxen haired woman steps from the circle of dancers
and walks toward you, smiling broadly. Barely visible from beneath her
cloak of green you see gossamer wings of rainbow hues. Her hair is the
color of pale gold soft as fresh spun silk and glistens in the
moonlight. She wears a tunic of soft yellow and has flowers entwined
in her hair. She reaches out a delicate gentle hand and grasps yours
as she pulls you from amongst the trees towards the circle of dancers.
She giggles and it reminds you of wind chimes. As you enter the
clearing you notice that there are others sitting about dining on
fresh fruit and cakes of honey and drinking blackberry and elderberry
wine. The sites, sounds, and aromas fill your senses, the splendor and
beauty fill your spirit with the magick of this place.

The beautiful young Fae takes you amongst the diners and motions for
you to sit. She offers you wine and cakes and your senses explode with
the tastes of the delicious rich flavors. Suddenly, you realize and
are amazed that you are able to understand your hosts and the lilting
songs. Being mindful of your manners, you ask questions and they tell
you fantastic stories of their culture and heritage. Tales of love,
battles, legends and lore told from the heart and memory touch your
heart, bringing tears to your eyes. Eventually, you are pulled into
the circle of dancers where you twirl about joining in the gaiety and
songs. You feel enraptured and enthralled. You dance and sing and
delight in the exquisiteness of it all. Now and then one of the
dancers steps out to enjoy the feast and another enters in their
place.

Feeling a bit tired and overwhelmed, you decide to sit back and watch
the festivities. You are feeling a bit heady now from the wine and
gradually drift off to sleep. The Faeries, their stories and songs
fill your dreams.

Waking, you find yourself back in the safety of your campsite snuggled
comfortably in your sleeping bag. Sitting up, you stretch and rub your
eyes. Was it a dream? Opening the tent flap, you step out into the sun
drenched clearing, holding your hands to shield your eyes from the
brightness. Seeing a narrow path opposite the remnants of your
campfire you can't resist investigating. Gathering your things and
cleaning up the campfire remains, your throw your pack and canteen
over your shoulder and begin your way up the trail. Carefully you pick
your way through the dense underbrush that crowds the path eventually
coming to a large clearing. There are still flowers everywhere but
encircling the flowers is a narrow path lined with mushrooms. Standing
outside the circle, your reach inside your pack and pull out an apple
and a pear. Carefully, so as not to step on any of the flowers or
mushrooms, you lay the fruit at the edge of the circle and step back.
You take a moment to give thanks and ask a blessing upon the magickal
beings and this place.

As you throw you pack back on you shoulder and begin up the trail you
hum to yourself one of the tunes you learned from the Fae. Every now
and then you hear the sound of wind chimes and know it is the sweet
laughter of a Faery. Before long, you find yourself on the familiar
trail that brought you here and returns home. Reaching the edge of the
forest you find you are home. On your doorstep there is a beautiful,
fragrant bouquet of flowers containing honeysuckle, lavender, violets
and marigolds.

Shape Shifter Blessings

Shape Shifter Blessings

This meditation is best done in a special place in your own yard
relaxing under the shady protection of the trees, or in a local park
or wooded area you are familiar with. Cast a circle of white
protective light around you, ground and center. Just relax. Allow
everything to just fall away as you inhale deeply again. Continue
breathing deeply until you are completely relaxed and at peace.
Continue inhaling and exhaling several more times. Close your eyes and
breathe, one two three.. Exhale on the count of three, one, two and
three…. Now open your eyes.

You are dressed in baggy khaki shorts, a light sleeveless t-shirt,
hiking boots, and as it is still cool, you have your sweater on. You
have a light pack on your back and carry a twisted, weathered oak
staff in which you have carved runes and symbols for protection.

You are hiking through a deep, vast woodland valley. The early morning
sun peeks through the treetops and the cracks and crags of rocky
embankments creating russet hues on the rock face. Lizards climb from
their burrows to sun themselves and hawks fly in circles overhead
searching for prey. You stop occasionally to peer into an old hollowed
out tree trunk or to smell the honeysuckle and crimson, trumpet shaped
flowers cascading from vines. In the distance you hear the sound of
rushing water.

As you come around the bend you see below you the valley floor. A
river winds through the middle and there are lush fields of
wildflowers and ferns amongst the thickets of trees on either side.
You stop to take in the beauty and removing your sweater, tie it about
your waist. The sky is clear and the rays of the mid day sun dance
across the water below creating dancing rainbows in the current.

Carefully, you make your way down through the thicket of oaks, maples,
and pine trees to the waters edge. The river cascades over the rocks
into gentle pools of water and then continues down the valley. You
pick a place where the currents flow gently. The water is only waist
deep but is clean and clear and fish swim peacefully. Setting your
pack down, you remove your boots and socks and carefully stick a toe
in the water. The temperature is perfect. Removing the rest of you
clothing you hang them from a branch on a nearby tree and gently ease
into the water. Ducking your head under, you swim about splashing and
playing in the refreshing water. The fish dart about, unsure about
your presence, seeking shelter beneath rocky ledges where water
cascades. A turtle slides from a log into the water and disappears
from sight. Damsel flies and dragon flies dart about the waters
surface, some have translucent shimmering wings and some have dark
opaque wings. You swim about leisurely and float on you back for a bit
absorbing the beauty of it all.

At the center of the stream a large rock protrudes above the surface
as the river cascades down the sides. Pulling yourself onto the rock
you sit back, legs dangling over the edge so your feet just skim the
waters surface and bask in the warm rays of sunlight on your skin. A
rustling noise gets your attention. Looking to the edge of the river
you see four otters at the bank. They ease into the water to feed on
crayfish and frogs. You lay back quietly and watch them for a while
but eventually you close your eyes and begin to drift.

A sudden splash awakens you. Four women, three of them young,
beautiful maidens and one more mature but just a lovely to behold are
splashing and playing in the water. Chestnut of hair with honey tan
skin and lithe, graceful bodies, their brown eyes sparkle as they
laugh. You can't help but feel the joy radiating from them. Diving
deep, they glide easily through the water. Turning to you, they smile
and gesture for you to join them. Sliding from the rock, you join them
in the watery playground. You splash and play and giggle, feeling
young, alive, and vibrant. Their gentle feminine laughter tinkles like
wind chimes in a teasing breeze. You feel as if you are a child again
playing with your friends at the play ground, dancing and giggling and
twirling about. You feel joyful and carefree. Scrambling upon rocky
ledges they take turns jumping and diving into the river. You take
your turn as well feeling exhilarated and alive.

Stopping to catch your breath, you climb back on top of your rock
still laughing and giggling at the women splashing about in the water.
As you sit to watch them, your four companions look at you and smile
and turn, diving deep one last time and swim to shore where they
emerge from the water not as women, but as three young otters and one
adult otter, their damp auburn fur glistening in the sunlight. Turning
to look at you once again, in your head you hear them gently remind
you of the importance of finding time to play, not just work. "Float
with the stream of life without tying yourself to material goods. Let
go of worry and pain, lighten up and enjoy what life has to offer.
Trust your inner knowing, develop trust for others and embrace the
world with excitement and enthusiasm. Life is what you make it.
Remember to honor the heart, to play with the people in our lives, and
to allow things to take their natural course." Then, turning away,
they scramble up the bank and into the woods.

Slowly, open you eyes and sit up and stretch your limbs. You find that
you are sitting under the shade of the trees in your own yard. Be sure
to ground and center. Now would be a good time to contemplate how you
could incorporate the lessons of Otter into you life.

Footprints

Footprints

You are walking along the shoreline of a pristine beach, dressed
in a simple shift of white linen. About your waist is a braided
ribbon sash of soft hues of blue and silver. Dangling from your sash
on your left hip is a satin bag containing smudge, sweetgrass, a
candle, and magickal treasures and tools. On you right hip resides an
athame, its blade sharp, its hilt, mother of pearl, glistens in the
moonlight. Waves crash along the shoreline spraying you with its
salty mist. A gentle breeze caresses your body making your dampened
clothing cling to your frame. The bright full moon accentuates your
silhouette in shadow upon the sand. It is a beautiful spring night.
The night sky twinkles brilliantly over head, cloudless and clear.
You deeply inhale the fresh evening air, relaxing in the beauty of
your surroundings.
Before you appears a young girl, flaxen curly hair, blue eyes and
a cherubic dimpled face. She dances before you innocently and
freely. Her laugh and smile are infectious. Suddenly she stops,
winking at you mischeviously. Stepping up to you, she reaches her
arms up to you and rests her hand on your heart. You feel love and
light flow from her and feel at ease. Stepping back, she gestures
for you to follow her to the tropical forest behind you. Curious, you
do so.
Looking about you, you see an immense ledge of jagged rocks to
you left. An opening in the tall sea grass and giant palm trees lead
to a gently sloping path leading up to the rock face. The sandy path
is lined with large boulders, tropical flowers and feather leaf
ferns. As you near the overhang of the cliff face, amongst banana
and mango trees, you see a large opening before you leading to a
cavern. As suddenly as the child appeared, she vanishes with a
giggle.
Stepping inside, you are surprised to find it well lit.
Moonlight shines through a large circular opening towards the top of
the cave, high above the cavern entrance flooding the large room
before you. Looking about you, you see a large fire pit, beside it
sits a large stack of wood ready and waiting. Before long, a warm
cozy fire adds its glow to the large room allowing you to see even
more of your surroundings. Suspended to one side hangs a large
hammock filled with luxurious soft furs. Across from the cave
entrance is a small pool of fresh, clear water, just large enough to
relax and refresh your body. A small fount of water bubbles up from a
ledge near the pool of water. The overflow from both filters over the
edge and back outside the cave.
You step back outside the cave entrance and gather some of the
fresh mangos, bananas, and coconut and bring them inside to enjoy
later. You check the fire, light some candles and some incense,
saying a blessing for what is before you, and then step from your
clothes and into the pool of water. The foliage around the cave fills
the air with its exotic scent. The light from the candles, fire, and
moonlight dance about you creating a soft glow within the cave.
Relaxing, you begin to drift.......
Before you appears a a beautiful woman, as exotic as the flowers
about you. Dressed in a silver tunic, her body lithe and graceful,
she has long dark hair and olive eyes. She pulls from a pouch
fragrant flowers and herbs, adding them to the water. She speaks in a
tongue unknown to you, her arms raised to the sky, in prayer. She
lays her hand at your heart and you feel the love and light that flow
from her. You feel healing energy coarse through your body. Smiling,
she removes her hand and turns away, vanishing.
Just as suddenly as the woman and child had appeared, a man
appears next before you. His tanned, muscled body gleams in the
light. The short white tunic shows his powerful legs and arms, his
shoulders, but it is his eyes you are drawn to, their wisdom and
strength. He has ocean blue eyes his golden hair hangs loosely to
his shoulders. He stands before the fire, offering prayers in an
unknown language, sprinkling herbs on the flames that crack and
spark. Turning to you, he comes to the edge of the water and places
his hand on your heart as the others have done. As the love and light
flow from his body to yours, you feel empowered, strengthened,
quickened. Pulling you to your feet, you step from the water. He
gestures for you to look at where you moments ago lay. Within the
water, you see the reflection of the child, the woman, the man, and
yourself, and you realize all of these things are not seperate of you,
but part of whom you are. Turning to look at the handsome young man,
you find that he too has vanished.
You sit before the fire, thinking on all that has occured, as you
eat of the fruit you had previously gathered. You feel strong yet
relaxed, peaceful and blissful, alive. You take two of the shells of
the coconuts, split in halves, and fill them with fruit and place them
at the cave entrance as an offering of thanks. You climb into the
hammock and cover yourself with the soft furs and sleep, dreaming
peacefully of all the blessings you have in your life.
Upon waking, you dress and eat. Taking herbs from your pouch,
you toss them into the dying embers of the fire. Standing, you raise
your arms and pray, giving thanks for all that has been, all that is
and all that is possible.
Gathering your belongings, you step from the cave and make you way
back to the beach. The sun shines brightly above filling your heart
and spirit with hope and joy. When you reach the shoreline, you see
three sets of footprints, those of a child, a woman, and a man, and
you smile as you watch the ocean waves slowly erase them from the
sand.

Cleansing Tides

Cleansing Tides

You are standing on a white pristine beach, the waves caress the
shore. An occasional piece of drift wood and conch shells dot the
shoreline. Imprinted lightly in the sand are designs left by crabs and
sandpipers. Waves crash against a rocky atoll to your left spraying
the rock surfaces with their salty rain. A lush, deep, tropical forest
stands behind you, the moonlight reflecting on the damp foliage. A
gentle breeze stirs the branches of the palm trees. The luminous moon
in her veil of twinkling stars shines high overhead.

You are dressed in a white gossamer hooded cloak that glistens in the
moonlight, long and billowing, it trails behind you. About your waist
curving around your hips is a belt of shell and red and black coral
that hangs to your ankles. From you belt hangs a small white velveteen
pouch containing incense, shells and stones. Around your neck hangs a
matching necklace of coral and shells including abalone, clam,
scallop, and a conch for a pendant. Your hair, long and loose, dances
about your face in the gentle breeze.

On a large boulder you set up a small alter using the items from the
pouch at your waist. You make a small fire using pieces of dried up
driftwood and fallen branches inside a small circle of gathered
stones. You cast a circle, seeking the blessings of the Lady and Lord
in your endeavors to be free of all negativity in your life, in your
body, in your spirit. Using a coconut shell you take some of the ashes
and add just enough water to make a paste. After removing your robe,
using your fingers, you write upon your body with the ashen paste. You
write your fears, your heartaches, your health issues upon your body.

Walking close to the waters edge you draw upon the shore a pentacle
large enough to lie in. The waves begin to crash higher and closer to
the shore as you lie inside the pentacle upon the beach bringing the
salty brine closer and closer to your toes. As the lunar charged tide
comes in and washes over you, the ashen writing is removed from your
body, and so too all the negativity, sickness, and fears are removed
from your body, mind and spirit.

Eventually the tide recedes. Slowly you stand and looking down you see
that the pentacle too has been washed away. You feel free, alive,
refreshed and renewed. Energized, you turn and walk back to your altar
and don your gossamer robe. Raising your arms high above you take a
deep breath and draw in the energy of the moon and stars above.
Enjoying the gentle breeze and the beauty of the night, you sit near
the fire and relax in the glory of it all and drift off to sleep.

You wake to find yourself in the safety of your own home, well rested,
happy, and refreshed.

Child's Play

Child's Play
By Lady Kiya

You are walking alone in the park. The swings, merry go round, and
seesaw stand motionless as the early morning sun peeks over the tree
tops. A gentle breeze forms ripples on the surface of a small pond at
the center of the playground. Dragonflies frolic just out of reach of
the hungry frogs. A turtle lays upon a large rock sunning itself as
the ducks scramble into the water upon seeing you. Dressed in a white
cotton short set, your feet are bare. The grass is thick, green and
lush under your feet. Robins run along the ground chasing grasshoppers
and worms. Daisies and dandelions dot the grassy perimeter.
Remembering how care free and happy you felt as a child playing in the
park you bend down and pick a handful of flowers and tuck one behind
your ear. Not able to resist the urge, you pluck a dandelion and
thoughtfully make a wish before blowing the little white tufts from
the stem sending them floating about you. Stopping at the swings, you
sit on one of the wooden seats to admire the view and reminisce.
Starting slowly, you begin swinging to and fro gradually picking up
speed. Just as when you were a child, you leap from the swing as it
flies forward and up. Laughing, you land but a few feet away in the
grass, on your bottom. Still laughing, you lie back on the carpet of
green and look skyward. Clouds form animal shapes in the sky. You see
sheep, whales, and lions as you lay relaxing in the sunshine. After a
while, you stand and dust yourself off and walk to the pond to watch
the ducks. Glancing down at yourself in the water you see two images,
one of yourself as you are now, and one of yourself as the child you
once were. Each has a daisy tucked behind their ear and they are
holding hands and laughing. "Ring around the Rosie" sings in your head
as you watch adult and child fall to the ground in joyous laughter.

Suddenly, a turtle's head pops up from the water. Seeing you surprises
him and he scrambles away as you watch in disappointment as the image
dissolves before your eyes. Where the images had been reflected, you
now see a daisy floating on the surface of the water. Reaching down,
you gather it up and hold it to your heart. Instantly you feel
connected to your inner child. Everything seems fresh and new. You
understand that imagination is nothing to be tossed casually to the
side. It is a foundation for insight and creativity that can benefit
all of your endeavors. It provides you with the ability to see beyond
the mundane and opens your heart and eyes to beauty, magic, and
wonder.

Standing, you look back at the swing. It is swaying to and fro.
Childlike laughter whispers in your ears. Dancing about your head are
the white tufts of a dandelion. Glancing up at the sky, the clouds
form images of children dancing and playing. You tuck the flower
gently behind your ear and turn to leave. A tear of joy slowly
trickles down your cheek. Your heart and spirit are full of love,
light, and peace.

The Hollow Tree

The Hollow Tree

You are walking down a path through the forest. Your guardian spirit
walks beside you. You feel safe and loved. Ferns and hostas dot the
edges amongst rough hewn stones and lichen covered fallen branches.
The moon peeks through the overgrowth of the moss strewn trees, the
stars wink mischievously amidst the few gaps in the cloudy sky. The
air is moist and the wind starts to pick up. The rain is gentle at
first but quickly turns torrential as you spy a large hollow in a
immense oak tree before you. Stepping inside you find yourself at the
beginning of a tunnel. In the distance you see luminous yellow eyes
glowing. You and your guardian spirit begin to bristle up as in your
head you hear the words, "Do not be afraid, I am here to guide you.",
as a silver gray wolf steps from the shadows. As you follow the wolf
into the tunnel your eyes begin to adjust to the darkness and you
notice there are scenes carved into the walls. You see yourself in
your mothers arms safe and secure as she rocks to and fro. You see
yourself playing in the yard, jumping rope, playing freeze tag, and
hide and seek. There are many happy memories depicted on the walls
around you. You see the first time you fell off of your bicycle and
scraped your elbow, the first time you were punished, your first
heartbreak. The wall of memories send your emotions whirling,
chaotically. Your guardian spirit snuggles up closer to comfort you.

Suddenly you arrive in a vast room. There are three women at different
stages of their lives and a man in his prime, sitting inside a circle.
At the center of the circle is a large raging bonfire. The wolf stops
at the entrance, "I will be here when your journey is complete." Your
guardian spirit waits with the wolf at the tunnels edge.

As you step forward the youngest of the three women steps forward to
greet you. Looking into her eyes you see yourself as you once were,
innocent, open, a child. Her heart is filled with wonder and hope. She
hugs you tightly and you remember all that once was. She tells you
that it is okay, you are safe, your past is just that, the past. As
she relinquishes her hold you feel release inside as well. She smiles
and your heart brims with wonder and hope.

She who steps forward next is you as you are now. There is desperation
and concern in her face. As she holds you to her bosom you see the
obstacles that currently stand in your path and the repeated mistakes.
As she steps back and smiles

you understand that the answers for yourself are inside yourself. You
must make internal changes in order for there to be external changes.
You feel the burden lifted from your shoulders and capable to achieve
your goals.

The future you steps forward and gently smiles as she embraces you.
You see many possibilities stand before you. The road while not easy,
is paved with great rewards if you choose to take it. There will be
many distractions and pitfalls as well. There is an easier road
apparent but it holds only emptiness. Knowing that all things are
possible, no dream unreachable, you feel ready to meet life head on as
you are released.

The man steps forward and smiles as he too embraces you. You see that
there are both masculine and feminine aspects to yourself that you had
not acknowledged before. You hear his words in your head, "The wisdom
and strengths are with you already. They are yours to draw from and
will aid you in all of your endeavors." As he takes his place back at
the circle you feel power and wisdom envelope you.

You realize that you are not outside the circle but at the center of
it where before there was a raging fire. You now know that each aspect
of yourself has always been within you. They have born witness to all
that you have been and all that you have done. You understand that by
looking within you will find the strength, wisdom, and support that
you need to learn, grow, and live. You feel centered, and in touch
with yourself. All the stored negative energies and traits are gone.
All the stored pain and resentment also are gone. You are filled with
love and light. By releasing the past you can now live in the moment
and can now plan for the future with clarity and wisdom.

You have emptied yourself of all your negative ideas and thoughts and
have also rid yourself of those preconceived notions about things and
some of the ideas that were conditioned in you as a child. Now you can
start all over again.

Turning back to the tunnel you see your guardian spirit and your guide
await you. You take a quick glance back and see the reflection of the
old you with all her fears an sorrows dissipate into a brilliant white
light that fills the room and floods your heart with hope and joy. The
light spills into the tunnel and lights your way as you, the spirit
wolf, and your guardian spirit journey back to the opening of the
grand oak tree. Along the way you see where once your memories had
been depicted on the walls, now there pictures of your ancestors. You
know that just as the two spirits are with you now, the spirits of
your ancestors too will always be with you.

Stepping from the majestic oak you find that you are home once again,
awake, renewed, and secure within yourself.

The Journey

Neath the twilight of the day I visit places far away,
0ther realms and distant lands, tropical forests and desert sands,
I am magickal beasts in mythical places, where time stands still through lunar phases.
Traveling east, south, west or north, I let spirit take its course.
Energy rises as I explore learning from masters of ancient lore,
Expanding consciousness through love and light, gaining wisdom and insight.
Experiencing what it is to be, someone, something, other than me.
I relinquish all control, so that I may discern, so that I may grow.
As I return through time and space, once again to fill my physical base,
I bring back with me joy and peace, and trinkets for which the mind to feast,
Blessings to have and share, gems of wisdom old and rare.
The Maiden, Mother, and the Crone, I have been and I have known.
This realm transforms, this realm transcends, where I am going and where I have been,
Joining together on this plain so that love and light here may reign.
